Introduction to Representative Basketball

For girls and boys born 2008 – 2012
Wednesday 28 October & 4 November, Thornbury High School Outdoor Courts

On Wednesday 28 October & 4 November we are running a two week program of Introduction to Representative Basketball  for players who are eligible for Under 12 or Under 14 Representative competition in the 2020-21 season (players born 2008 – 2012).

Rep teams represent the Collingwood Basketball Association playing against teams in various grades from all over Melbourne.  The Representative competition is played on Friday evenings, and gives you an opportunity to improve your basketball skills and to achieve your personal best.  As well as the Friday games, Rep teams have additional training sessions and they get the chance to play in tournaments in places like Ballarat and Adelaide as well as the Eltham tournament around Australia Day. More information about the representative program is available here.

If you turn 9 or 10 or 11 next year (in 2021) then you are Under 12 in Rep, and if you turn 12 or 13 next year then you are Under 14 in Rep. It goes up to Under 21, and Collingwood last season had 10 girls representative teams and 15 boys representative teams.

So, if you are:

  • keen
  • committed
  • a good basketballer (or you could be good)

and if you have agreement from your parent or guardian, then we invite you to come along to our special U12/U14 Introduction to Representative Basketball sessions on Wednesday 28 October & 4 November, 2020.  If you come it doesn’t mean that you have to go ahead with anything at all if you don’t want to.  And you don’t have to be a champion basketballer either.

Come and find out what Rep is all about. There’s no cost to come along to the special sessions but please let us know you are coming. Ask your parent or guardian to email rep@collingwoodbasketball.com.au. Bring a basketball, a water bottle, your parent or guardian, a light and a dark singlet or T-shirt if possible, and enjoy learning more about basketball.
