JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Little Stars

Little Stars is an introductory play and learn basketball program for 3 – 4 year-olds. Expect lots of fun, and game-based activities that will develop coordination and motor skills in a safe and nurturing basketball setting.

When:
Saturday morning; Monday mid-morning

Aussie Hoops

Aussie Hoops is all about teaching the fundamentals of basketball to 5-9 year olds through game based activities with a huge focus on fun and inclusivity. We offer two levels of Aussie Hoops; for brand new beginners (Aussie Hoops Rookie) and those who are consolidating their skills (Aussie Hoops Pro). Both programs will be run simultaneously so our coaches can place athletes in the program that best suits their stage of development.

When:
Wednesdays or Thursdays after school, or Saturday mornings

J-League

J-League is for athletes whose fundamental skills and game-sense has developed to the stage where they are ready to play modified 5 on 5 team basketball on 8-foot rings. Our focus is very much on skill development and learning the game, with inclusivity and enjoyment far outweighing the result of the game.

At every J-League session we will offer J-League Rookie and J-League Pro, so athletes will ball with players of a similar developmental level.

When:
Wednesdays after school or Saturday mornings

AAA (Access for All Abilities)

Collingwood Basketball Association, in conjunction with Basketball Victoria and the City of Yarra, runs an ongoing Access for All Abilities Basketball (AAA) program.

AAA Basketball is for boys and girls aged 6 – 16 years, with special needs, who would like to learn to play basketball at a fun, friendly and inclusive club. We encourage brothers and sisters, and mums and dads to be part of the program and get involved as we have fun on the court.

Holiday Programs

Collingwood Basketball camps run every school holidays and focus on basketball skill acquisition through fun games, activities and drills.

We offer camps that are suitable for primary school aged children from beginners through to domestic level athletes.

Sporting Schools

Sporting Schools is an Australian Sports Commission initiative funding over 5700 in-school sports programs, with an aim to engage more than 850,000 children across Australia in what will be the country’s largest school-based participation program. Sporting Schools replaces the previous Active After-School Communities (AASC) program.

For Collingwood Basketball Association as an accredited Aussie Hoops centre , Sporting Schools will:
• allow us to deliver a four to seven-week school-based Aussie Hoops themed program at multiple schools in our region, all year round
• form a great opportunity for Collingwood All Stars to build stronger links with our local school network, and develop better school engagement strategies
• have a much greater link with Basketball Australia and Basketball Victoria, compared with the previous AASC program
• allows us to deliver high quality in-school programs, coupled with curriculum and resources provided by Basketball Australia.
