About

Welcome to the Collingwood All Stars online resource for coaches.

Although some of the material here is specifically oriented to our rep coaches, much of it applies to domestic coaches as well.

For training drills and skills that we feel are required by age level, visit the Skills Curriculum page.

If you have any suggestions on what to add to this website, or if you have some material yourself that you would like to suggest for inclusion, please let us know at allstars@collingwoodbasketball.com.au

For assistance with communication, complaints and conflict issues, send an email to complaints@collingwoodbasketball.com.au and the responsible committee member will assist.

Policies and information

On this page we have linked some downloadable pdf documents which might help in your coaching activities.

Coaches Code of Conduct

It’s by Basketball Victoria but it’s also Collingwood’s – all of our coaches are required to stick to the code at all times. You HAVE to follow this code of conduct !

Got a problem with anything in this? Something happened that you’re concerned about? Better let us know first before somebody else does…

For assistance with communication, complaints and conflict issues, send an email to complaints@collingwoodbasketball.com.au and the responsible committee member will assist.

Code of conduct for Players, Parents and Spectators

The full Parents Code of Conduct is also on the main club website here – it’s worth pointing players and parents to it if you are having problems with them.

CAS rep program policy

Includes selection policy.

Zone Busters Manual

Guide to implementing the ‘No Zone’ rule in under 12 and under 14 rep and domestic competition (rule applies in both competitions).

Official Basketball Rules

This is the complete FIBA current set of rules. Don’t forget that sometimes local competition rules haven’t caught up with FIBA rule changes yet, or they may not be applicable for every level of competition.

Accreditation

We couldn’t operate without our wonderful voluntary coaches, and we’re always happy to encourage more people to become a coach.

All coaches and assistant coaches are required to have a current Working With Children Check.  In addition, rep team coaches are required to  complete a statutory declaration about any criminal record.  Collingwood Basketball Association takes this very seriously and will not allow any person to coach unless the necessary checks are valid.  We will assist with the necessary processes.

Collingwood Basketball Association expects that as a mimumum requirement all coaches should complete the free online course ‘Community Coaching General Principles’ offered by the Australian Sports Commission.

You are encouraged also to complete any of the other courses offered by the Australian Sports Commission.
