Inclusion and equity

We embrace Basketball Victoria’s inclusion guidelines to:

  • Reduce the barriers
  • Promote inclusive practices
  • Develop collaborative partnerships
  • Support attitudinal change to eradicate potential barriers to inclusion
  • Engage the whole community in order to provide equitable, inclusive and accessible basketball.

In 2012 Collingwood Basketball Association was awarded Basketball Victoria’s ‘Inclusive Organisation of the Year’ award. Primarily this recognised our extensive involvement in working with the growing South Sudanese asylum-seeker community by helping their young people to engage with others in a healthy and inclusive atmosphere.

Subsequently (2014-2017) we have been supported by the City of Yarra and VicHealth in developing and providing ongoing multicultural outreach, inclusion, mentoring and leadership programs incorporating full-time staff commitment.

Collingwood Basketball Association is committed to equitable policies on cultural background, ethnicity, gender identity and disability.
