Collingwood Basketball Association Incorporated, known more familiarly as the Collingwood All Stars, comprises basketball programs across Big V youth and seniors, VJBL (representative), junior domestic (within the EDJBA), senior domestic and our award-winning Aussie Hoops program. Collingwood has approximately 1,700 participants across these programs.
Reporting to the General Manager, and supported by our basketball sub-committee, the Director of Coaching will lead the basketball program across our Big V, representative and domestic segments.
The Director of Coaching will lead the development of the Collingwood All Stars basketball strategy playbook, including training plans and in-game management. This will include hands on coaching of the broader coaching group to ensure consistency across programs.
The Director of Coaching should possess effective communication skills and a passion for working with coaches and players across the club to develop our basketball programs. We would expect the successful candidate to:
- Be in regular communication with Big V and VJBL (representative) coaches.
- Regularly attend match days as an observer, providing assistance to coaches and players as required.
- Regularly attend and contribute to training sessions, including specific group training sessions as appropriate.
- Work with coaches to map individual player development pathways for Big V and VJBL (representative) players.
- Liaise with the Head of Girls Program to ensure female-specific programs are appropriately developed.
- Foster a strong working relationship with Basketball Victoria and be actively involved in affiliated programs and elite pathways.
- Work closely with our domestic development staff to foster a club-wide approach to player development.
Importantly, the Director of Coaching would be expected to not coach a VJBL (representative) team for the season. (The Director of Coaching could though take on a coaching role in our Big V program, or as a tournament only coach.)
