Positions Available – Head of Girls Basketball Program

An exciting opportunity exists to join Collingwood Basketball Association (CBA) in the position of Head of Girls Basketball Program.  The role includes the opportunity to work with the CBA Committee and the successful candidate will be provided with training and the room to grow and develop within the role with the support of the Committee and a passionate team of basketball operations staff.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the girls basketball program within our association.  The role will have a strong focus on increasing the participation of girls and women in all aspects of the girls basketball program.

Coaching experience, particularly with girls’ basketball programs is required, along with a strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and coaching methodologies.

Job Type:  Casual.  The position requires the ability to work flexible hours including on weekends and after hours.

Position Overview:

CBA is seeking a passionate individual to fill the role of Head of Girls Basketball Program (HGP).  This position involves a combination of consultation with basketball operations staff and direct responsibility, with a strong focus on increasing the participation of girls and women in our basketball programs.

The role includes the opportunity to work with the CBA Committee, who are very excited about developing the girls basketball program along with all other programs in our Association. The successful candidate will be provided with training and the room to grow and develop within the role with the support of the Committee and a passionate team of basketball operations staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with the Director of Coaching in managing the Big V and junior representative (VJBL) programs, including player selection and program logistics, such as training schedules and number of girls teams.
  • Responsible for try-outs and selection of players in the higher ranking girls teams in the junior domestic program.
  • Consult with the Team Composition Sub-committee on the selection of teams for the junior domestic program.
  • Drive an increase in the number of female coaches in the domestic program.
  • Actively work to increase the participation rate of female players.
  • Mentor and train coaches of domestic girls teams, including scheduling of training programs/sessions for coach attendance.
  • Primary touch point for communication with coaches and parents regarding players and teams.
  • Attend monthly meeting of the Girls Basketball Sub-committee and provide monthly reports, including feedback on the number of female participants.

Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience, particularly with girls’ basketball programs.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and coaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

The position is casual and requires the ability to work flexible hours including on weekends and after hours.
