For the upcoming Summer 2026/27 EDJBA season, CBA is inviting all NEW U8, U10 & U12 Boys & Girls players to its “Come & Try Day” for new players interested in joining the club and participating in the EDJBA Junior Domestic Competition. Registration Link & Details below:
10:00am to 11:30am Collingwood Basketball Stadium Courts 1 & 2 Sunday 16th of August Cost – FREE
The Come & Try Day will be delivered as a fun and engaging training session. The session will focus on introducing players to the fundamentals of basketball through a range of fun activities, skill-based drills, and small-sided games led by experienced Collingwood Basketball coaches. The emphasis will be on creating a positive first experience, allowing players to build confidence, develop new skills, meet other participants, and experience the welcoming community environment that Collingwood Basketball is proud to offer.
The day will also provide families with the opportunity to meet members of the Collingwood Basketball community, learn more about the club, understand the Junior Domestic program, and ask any questions regarding the season ahead.
In addition to introducing new players to the club, the Come & Try Day forms an important part of the team placement process. It allows the Basketball Operations Committee to assess each player’s current skill level, experience, and development needs to ensure new players are placed in a team that best supports their growth, enjoyment, and long-term development as a basketball player.

WHAT IS THE EDJBA?
The Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA) is the largest junior competition in Australia, boasting over 1,500 teams & close to 12,000 players. EDJBA are an all-inclusive Association who pride themselves on providing an exceptional basketball competition, suitable for all playing abilities. EDJBA’s focus is on participation in a safe and enjoyable environment.
REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fees are structured to encourage early registration, allowing families to access a reduced fee while assisting CBA with team formation, grading, scheduling, and planning for the upcoming season. The registration fee includes all weekly game fees throughout the season, including finals, as well as all scheduled Domestic training sessions. This provides families with a clear upfront cost while ensuring players have access to a complete season of basketball participation.
A 5% family discount is available for additional players registering from the same immediate family. This discount is applied to each additional registration and is designed to support families with multiple children participating in the CBA Domestic Basketball Program. Families registering multiple players are encouraged to ensure all eligible participants are linked correctly during the registration process to receive the applicable discount.
Early Registration Fee Period 31 July – 31 August Registration Fee: $375.00 An additional late fee of $50.00 applies after this period and is summarised below:
Late Registration Fee Period 1 September – 30 September Registration Fee: $425.00 Please note that the registration fee does not include walkover fees.
EDJBA SUMMER 2026/2027 SEASON DATES
The Summer 2026/27 EDJBA season will officially commence on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with the Grand Final games scheduled for Saturday, 27 March 2027. Throughout the season, teams will participate in weekly Saturday fixtures, with a break over the Christmas and New Year period and no matches scheduled on the Melbourne Cup and Labour Day weekends. Once the EDJBA releases the official fixture, all match details, including game times, venues, and opponents, will be available via the link provided below. Families are encouraged to regularly check the fixture throughout the season, as game times and venues may be updated by the EDJBA where required.
AGE GROUPS
To ensure all players are placed in the correct competition, age groups are pre-determined by a player’s date of birth. Please refer to the age group classifications below for Summer 2026/2027:
U8: 1 July 2018 – 30 June 2022 U10: 1 July 2016 – 30 June 2018 U12: 1 July 2014 – 30 June 2016 U14: 1 July 2012 – 30 June 2014 U16: 1 July 2010 – 30 June 2012 U18: 1 July 2008 – 30 June 2010 U21: 1 July 2005 – 30 June 2008
These age groups ensure players compete alongside others of a similar age and stage of development, while also allowing clubs to plan teams, fixtures, and player pathways consistently from season to season.
