“ALL STARS, ONE COMMUNITY”

CBA Launches Bold New Strategic Plan for the Future of Basketball

Collingwood Basketball Association has officially launched its 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, setting a clear and ambitious direction for basketball across Melbourne’s inner north.

Built around the theme “All Stars, One Community”, the plan reflects CBA’s commitment to being a trusted basketball organisation where people feel connected, supported and proud to belong.

The Strategic Plan is built around five core pillars that will guide the organisation over the next three years. These pillars focus on growing participation, strengthening development pathways, building sustainable operations and commercial discipline, supporting volunteers and staff, and establishing strong organisational foundations.

CBA President Dure de Winter said the plan reflects both the growth of basketball within the region and the importance of maintaining a strong connection to community.

“‘All Stars, One Community’ represents who we are and who we want to continue becoming as an association. This plan provides a clear framework for sustainable growth while ensuring we remain welcoming, inclusive and community focused.”

The strategy is also underpinned by four organisational S.T.A.R. values that will guide behaviour and decision making across the association. Support Each Other, Take Responsibility, Aim to Improve and Respect for All will shape how CBA operates on and off the court.

General Manager Shaun McEachin said the Strategic Plan extends beyond basketball outcomes alone.

“This plan is about creating an environment where people feel connected, supported and valued. Our values are not words sitting on a page. They shape how we lead, communicate and build trust across our community.”

“We want people from all backgrounds and experiences to see CBA as a place where they can participate, develop and belong, whether as a player, coach, referee, volunteer or supporter.”

The strategy will be delivered through a structured three year cycle focused on stabilising operations, strengthening systems and positioning the organisation for long term success.
