Collingwood Basketball Association is continuing to build momentum through Ford Aussie Hoops, with strong female participation results placing the association among the leading programs in Victoria.
Across 2025, more than 400 participants took part in the program at CBA, highlighting growing interest in entry level basketball opportunities across Melbourne’s inner north.
The strongest result came through female participation, with girls representing more than 41 per cent of registrations across recent program terms. This places CBA well above the Victorian state average of 32 per cent and reflects the association’s continued focus on creating accessible and inclusive opportunities for girls in basketball.
These outcomes align closely with the work being delivered through CBA’s Girls and Women’s Pathway program, which is focused on reducing participation barriers and creating welcoming environments where girls feel confident to start and continue their basketball journey.
A key driver behind the growth of the program has been the work of CBA Head of Junior Development Jalen Barker, who oversees the delivery of Ford Aussie Hoops at Collingwood. Through his leadership, the program has continued to build a strong reputation for creating engaging, inclusive and development focused experiences for young participants and families.
CBA General Manager Shaun McEachin said the results demonstrate the value of intentional community focused programming and strong leadership within the junior space.

Ford Aussie Hoops provides young participants with a fun and supportive introduction to basketball, helping children develop confidence, movement skills and friendships in a positive environment.
